Fall In Outremont

Fall In Outremont

My love for Outremont goes back a long way. When I was a child, my parents frequently brought me to the Croissanterie Figaro to enjoy the best almond paste croissants in town. At that time I was fascinated by this neighborhood which was so different from what I knew because of its architectural style and its residents— I grew up in the suburbs of Montreal. Today, I am fortunate enough to live in the neighborhood right next to it and to be able to go there as often as I want. I am still as charmed by its beauty as I was back then.

There is something special that happens when you enter the neighborhood perimeter. You're still in the city, but yet you immediately get the feeling you've crossed a (rich) suburbs: the noise of Montreal is no longer heard, the streets are less hectic, the hipsters of the Plateau Mont-Royal are replaced by families and young children, the greenery is more abundant, the houses more spaced and the apartment blocks non existent. But what strikes me the most every time is the dead calm that reigns there, I'm instantly taken over by a feeling of appeasement.

Recently, I have found out that Fall is the best season of all for long walks in Outremont. The change in color of the leaves to orange advantageously brings out the different brick tones of houses and the cozy and warm atmosphere of the neighborhood.
